Scaling Nature-based Solutions for
Sustainable Development

Think & Do Tank

NbS Hub is a platform for intersectoral collaboration aimed at scaling up Nature-Based Solutions (NbS). Rooted in the ethos of thinking and acting, we tackle public policy, capacities, and technology needs to develop financial mechanisms and regulatory frameworks that facilitate the scaling of NbS with urgency, transparency, and integrity towards the Rio Targets for sustainable development.

7 trillion dollars a year are invested in activities that harm nature

About 7% of the world’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is spent on finance that harms nature, which is 30 times more than what is spent on nature.

In NbS Hub we promote Nature-based Solutions, an innovative approach for complying with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under comprehensive and regenerative solutions. The nature finance gap is huge and that is why we need to join forces under a common understanding.

The challenge of today is to scale NbS.

We bridge this gap by offering:

Holistic Approach

Our expertise in environmental law and policy and technology for good ensures projects embrace an integrated approach, minimizing trade-offs and maximizing positive impact for people and nature.

Unmatched Network

As part of Nature Tech Collective, we leverage a global network of over 1oo initiatives in technologies focused on Regenerative Finance, enabling us to provide comprehensive advice for projects and initiatives.

Regulatory Alignment

Our legal workstream ensures nature finance contributions align with existing and forthcoming regulations, mitigating legal and reputational risks of our members.

Integrity First

We prioritize integrity on par with market rules, elevating our projects to a new level of accountability, to reach impact at scale.

Areas of
work

Financial Mechanisms

We empower governments and institutions to create effective policies, regulations, and market structures that attract high-quality international and private nature-based finance. Our focus is on legal certainty, safeguards, transparency, and alignment with local long-term development goals.

Legal and regulatory affairs

We help the private sector to desig and identifying projects and measures that consider natural capital standards and adhere to robust social and environmental safeguards. By aligning with SDGs principles and emphasizing multiple benefits, we help mitigate legal and reputational risks in a preventive manner.

Capacity Building

We develop tailored capacity-building programs for governments, universities,  NGOs, and the wider climate finance ecosystem. Our educational initiatives equip you with the tools needed to fast drive the SDGs 2030 Agenda forward without compromising on key values.

Nature Tech opportunities

In the era of Web3.0 technologies, we promote natural asset tokenization protocols, registries and dMRV initiatives to uphold integrity in their nature-based portfolios. We work with jurisdictions, and with conservation and regeneration project developers to leverage blockchain + AI potential for accessing regenerative finance.

Our Impact

Policy Design

Bolivia: We helped the Bolivian government on a national financing strategy for forests, including social and environmental safeguards and interagency coordination for REDD+.
Argentina: Under its Long Term Low Emissions Development Strategy, we are supporting the design of an innovative financial scheme for payments of ecosystem services in the Gran Chaco Americano, including Paraguay.

Capacity-Building

Workshops: We host a programme of workshops for the digital technologies sector, emphasizing social and environmental integrity and lessons from the international cooperation system.
Grassroots: We train local communities inhabiting natural ecosystems, equipping them with tools for active participation and effective governance in regenerative finance endeavors.
